5.0 out of 5 stars Get just one screenplay book. This one!, 22 Jun 2000
Keane is clear, structured, very knowledgeable and most importantly, able to impart the knowhow. This book is thorough and exceedingly well written. It takes you through the whole spectrum of the industry and generously overloads you with illuminating tips - all from an insider who has read and successfully written scripts. This is a gift which is without doubt ahead of the competition. Get one book on this subject and you know which.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book to read if you're taking your laptop to Hollywood, 13 Jul 1999
By A Customer
There are hundreds of books on the business of writing screenplays, and I've read plenty of them, but I'd say this is the best. Christopher Keane tells us how to refine an idea, how to develop characters, how to get a plot moving, and how to keep asking the right questions at every step along the way. He illustrates his points with examples from movies, both contemporary and classic, and he fills the book with anecdotes fro mhis own career, so it's fun to read as well as informative. Now that I've read it, I'm ready to start writing that movie I've always dreamed of.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read and write!, 5 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Very impressed! Targeted at the absolute begineer with only an idea and imagination to hand, this book leads you thorough the basics. A bit more information about script format would have filled the gaps completely, but apart from that, a very good starting point.
