Where to start? - In essence, beginner-intermediate Authorware users will find some very useful insights into common functions and variables here which can be implemented as a great source for reference, however.......

When I opened this book I browsed the section of most interest to me - the ODBC and Database integration sections. On initial inspection I was very impressed. As a non-programming user of Authorware it seemed I had found just what I was looking for, however after I sat down and started to go through chapters 18 & 19 it wasn't too long before I was left scratching my head! There seems to be, in places steps missing, the book almost seems to switch between a novice guide to an advanced level then back again, it soon became very, very frustrating having to re-trace which sections I needed to delete before starting over! - On occasions I gave up and just had to copy the source files that accompany the book, which is all well and good but surely not the point of the exercises.

In conclusion, putting aside the sometimes poor construction of the user guides, the information is there to be seen, there is no question that the authors of the book really know how to use Authorware but from a teaching source point of view beginners - get ready for some late nights trying to make sense of certain sections, intermediate/advanced user - potential reference guide and nothing more! - Sorry :-)
