I have to say that there is a real shortage of serious books written for the new Linux user. Masses of online help and forums, everyone is very helpful. But you still need a real book to read and refer to. If you've got SuSe 9x then I can recommend this book wholeheartedly. Written in a clear easy to follow way it provides a guide to Linux in general as well as specifics about installing, configuring and maintaining SuSE. You get a full version of SuSE 9.1 Pro on the DVD-ROM, so buy the book and you get a superb operating system for the price! I'm glad I made the move to Linux and this book has helped make that change a lot smoother.  Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? Now superceeded by version 10.1 but the basics of linux remain the same, such as navigating around the file system and the command line.
