5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for any one looking at running a SuSE Linux Serve, 21 Mar 2002
By A Customer
SuSE Linux Server is not a book designed for new comers servers and networking, as I found a good back ground knowledge is needed to under stand a lot of why Linux does things. But if you do have a good technical knowledge and want to set up a SuSE Linux Server this book the best book you could get.

Starting out with the History and Installation of SuSE Linux this book then goes through explaining the start-up and shutdown process, every day commands and every thing you need to know about administrating a SuSE Linux Server. This is not easy reading as a lot of it is just scripts and command syntax but all of it very useful. After going through all this is goes into setting up the server services, samba, NFS, NIS, Proxy etc. each section gives all the info need to set-up and administer each service and where to get more advanced info. Every bit of info I have needed to install and manage my serve this book has given it to me so far.

The only thing missing from this book is any info about using some useful applications SuSE Linux offers, like Vmware and Star Office, and it comes with an evaluation copy of SuSE Linux (but these are minor points).

I highly recommend this book to any one looking at installing and/or administering SuSE Linux.
