5.0 out of 5 stars The only book on HTML 4 worth paying money for..., 28 Oct 1999
By A Customer
because what this book doesn't cover, you find on the net anyway. This book does *not* claim to be a complete intro, reference, etc etc to HTML 4 and fancy Netscape and IE cluttered code.

This book is the ideal desk-top companion when programming HTML 4. It's spiral bound, so it lies flat and on the page you left it open.

This book is one of my most-used tools. For me, it is almost invaluable.

If you need to a quick ref to HTML 4 (and CSS), buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy 2 - someone will beg at least one copy off you!, 9 Sep 2004
By Mrs. B. Salter-Murison (Surrey, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I learnt html from the previous version of this book, and the current one is just as good.

It's by no means exhaustive, but it is *extremely* handy as a desktop reference. You can look up anything someone starting on html could possibly need.

The format is a huge plus - a toughly built spiral-bound little book - small and strong. When asked to teach html I always recommend this book. In fact I haven't got one of my own anymore - I've given away three and only came on-site to get the URL to recommend the book to another novice who needs to get off the ground.

If you want to learn to write your own code - even for a hobby - buy this book. And no, I am no way connected with the author, publisher, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, this is a fantastic, portable reference!, 27 Jul 1999
By A Customer
The Hip Pocket Guide is a great portable reference for HTML 4. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner's first or only book, but for someone who knows the basics, it is extremely helpful. Whenever I need a reminder about what attributes I can use with a particular tag, this is the book I refer to.

It is especially great for the web designer who must travel throughout the day. Whether I'm working on my pages at home, or teaching HTML at work (USF - Tampa), I've got this guide with me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Should give it ZERO Stars
This is a horrible attempt to provide a quick reference to HTML 4. Trouble is - it is more of a quick refrence to HTML. It is also very cheesy to be a reference. Read more
