Product Description
Synopsis
An A-to-Z tutorial/reference to programming Java in the Borland JBuilder programming environment, this text follows the "Bible" guidelines, using user-functions rather than product features as a basis for organization and tutorial. It incorporates select examples and illustrations - each one in several stages. At each stage, the reader may use the example created in the previous stage, or select the stage under discussion from the CD. This enables the reader to skip or randomly access the various lessons.

From the Author
This book covers Java and OOP as well as JBuilder.
The JBuilder 2 Bible uses JBuilder to teach the Java programming language from the ground up. Along the way, it delivers a thorough overview of object-oriented design, as well as the more sophisticated features of the JBuilder environment. With this book you can use the JBuilder development environment to design and develop object-oriented programs in the Java language, using either Java 1.1 or 1.2. The projects start from "Hello World" and build up to an AI application and a project scheduler. All of the projects are included on the CD. An extensive collection of reference tables makes The JBuilder 2 Bible a book you will use long after the concepts have been mastered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh, for want of a quotation mark!, 9 Jul 1999
By A Customer
The fact that the text of the book is missing all the single and double quotes can be dishearting for the beginner trying to make the programs work! The book was written with the total beginner in mind but the topics like loops and conditional expressions need to be addressed by another book that allocates more time and exercises to key areas. I find the book very helpful in learning the JBuilder environment for the intermediate programmer (that is a person with one programming langauge under their belt and some knowledge of Java). Overall I have found it beneficial and plan on finishing up the book. I don't recommend it for anyone who wants to actually learn Java (there are better books) and it doesn't touch database programming (see JBuilder Essentials). The lack of quotes is irritating but manageable.
