3.0 out of 5 stars Will get you started but offers little depth, 1 Mar 2002
By Scott (West Midlands, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Slackware is one of the more 'hardcore' Linux distros around, so its inclusion in the 'Dummies' series is a bit odd.
The book however does a good job of taking you through the basics of installing and setting up your Slackware system. Any competent PC user should be able to follow the advice and get up and running using this as a guide.

Where the book falls down is the lack of any real depth. Beyond the basic command discriptions and general utilitys you'll have to look elsewhere for help.

Well written and clear this book is good (and the attached CDs are useful if you can't down-load the distro from the net). However Slackware isn't really a 'Dummies' OS.
