1.0 out of 5 stars The worst book ever on Java (IMHO), 7 Aug 2001
By A Customer
I do appreciate some of the dummies books I've found them very good introductions to technologies. You have to buy them understanding that further reading is usually required.

This however looks completely useless. I couldn't see one single line of example Java code in the entire book. They should not be allowed to sell this book under this title. It is extremely misleading.

To learn Java try "Thinking in Java" by Bruce Eckel.

If only I could give this zero stars. Negative even.

1.0 out of 5 stars misleading title, 15 Dec 2001
By A Customer
I'm just beginning a java course and was hoping this would offer a clear route into the basic concepts. In fact the book has nothing to do with writing code or understanding the language, just with applying buzzers and bells to websites
:o( Poor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of date and useless, 25 Jul 2001
By A Customer
Check out page 20 where the author states "by the year 2000, the vast majority of Web pages are certain to look and act nothing like they did a few years ago"!!!...
