5.0 out of 5 stars Best Beginners Book For VB Made, 11 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This is the book I started with and moved on to become a very good VB Programmer, One thing about this book people don't like is it just contains the basics, I loved that though, I totally understood what I was doing. What each line of code meant. When I finished this Book I Moved On To Bigger Books which with this Backround I had no trouble with whatsoever, The Humor was great, I think people who look down on it are ignorant. I don't mean to be rude. You just have to have a sense of humor. If you are just beginning with no experiance at all in programming, BUY THIS BOOK!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant for the Beginner, 23 Aug 2001
By A Customer
I first came across VB5 after being reccommended to the language when I reached the limits of good old QBasic. I was completely confused. I pruchased this book, and it guided me through the basics of creating an interface and had writing my own programs quickly. Wallace writes in a funny style and gently leads you on towards heavier concepts. He is a little unclear in places...

2.0 out of 5 stars Book needs examples to work through, 16 Dec 1999
By A Customer
The book is alright but no better. I have just been on a Microsoft Visual Basic Fundamentals course and thought I would be able to use the book as a guide, but I can't. There are no examples for you to work through apart from at the start - all it does is tell you what can be done but doesn't get you to try. Only worth 2 stars...I am off to buy another book
