3.0 out of 5 stars NOT AS GOOD AS I HAD HOPED, 23 Sep 2004
Forgive me, but when I buy a book about keeping horses the natural way, I don't expect to receive yet another guide to rugging up, shoeing, exercise boots, stables, etc. Those of us who keep our horses naturally don't do that. However, I think Jo Bird (who is the author - not Pat Parelli - he just wrote the introduction) was trying to encourage die-hard traditionalists to consider a more natural way of keeping horses - which still isn't natural enough in my book. She does, however, give some insights into behaviour which I hadn't considered before

4.0 out of 5 stars Making the every day a little more interesting, 29 Jul 2005
By Kirsty (Oxfordshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Ok so some things may seam common sense but this book does take a different view on the every day routine of horse care, the book is well laid out and an easy enjoyable read. I am very much into Holistic approaches and this book gives great insight to the some of the options/possibilities to those wanting to consider horse care in a more horse sympathetic approach.

All in all I would recommend this book as a horse care guide (a beginners/reference book) that provides knowledge for a more horse friendly approach opposed to the traditional old school not so holistic horse methods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb addition to any equine library, 8 Dec 2007

Excellently and innovatively illustrated this book makes a huge leap forward in steering those of us who thought we knew most important things about horses to think differently. It provides a whole host of new angles on more natural and personal ways of interacting with and caring for your horse and how they may indeed interact with each other leading to a relaxed and rewarding relationship with these unique animals. Highly recommended to anyone even remotely interested in horses. Designed to be read and re-read, I can't put mine down!.
