5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for reference of Russian verbs, 4 Nov 2003
By J. Mcshane "Mojo" (Leeds, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have been studying the Russian language for 2 years now and, during that time, have constantly referred to this book.

Each content page has a verb, with all its forms.

Verbs are placed in sections: Past tense, Present tense, Future tense, Conditional tense, Imperative, Deverbals (Participles) and the Verbal adverb (Gerund).

It is well laid out and shows the different conjugations of verbs within each section.

At the front of the book, there are descriptions of how verbs work.

At the back of the book, there are two sections dedicated to listing the infinitive form of the verbs and indicating which page the verb is on. The first section puts the verbs in English A-Z order and the second section puts the verbs in the Russian Imperfective A-ya order.

For me, the only downsides to this book are that examples are not provided (which would be useful) and that the book is quite heavy to carry around.

Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend this verb book to any student of the Russian language. It has been extremely useful for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well laid out grammar book, 10 Dec 2001
By A Customer
A russian verb book is essential book when learning Russian. This one isn't as handy in size (A5 ish) as some of the pocket ones but it's clear and well laid out. The index at the back lists the imperfect verbs alphabetically which makes them easy to find in the book. The verbs are translated in english.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one won't let you down..., 14 Nov 2009

... as it is a reference book similiar to the renowned (French) Bescherelle grammar series. The "501" is just a number, you may conjugate 10000 Russian verbs with this, if you like. The idea behind it is very simple but highly effective: The book presents every type of verb in the Russian language neatly arragend in every verb tense (in tables), and the verbs are also marked so that they can easily be grouped under one basic verb of that type. From beginner to advanced level.
