5.0 out of 5 stars PJ captures imaginations, young and old, again!, 10 Mar 2008

(REAL NAME)
`Betrayal on Orbis 2' sees a return to the indentured lives of JT, Ketheria and co. in Weegin's World on Orbis 1, but not for long. They soon embark on new adventures under Odran the Samiran Caretaker their new guarantor. The Samiran,`Toll', is a giant aquatic alien whose job it is to cool the crystals from the moons Ki and Ta that the Orbisians rely on. As a Softwire, the only one who can communicate with the Samiran, it becomes JT's job to discover why the Samiran's anxiety levels are heightened and a new friendship develops. JT's abilities as a Softwire often leave him feeling like an outsider and this is heightened in this book when Odran also assigns him the job of controller, potentially having to meet out punishment to the other children if they disobey orders. In `Betrayal on Orbis 2' new friendships are made as a myriad of alien characters are introduced, the intrigue from the first book with Softwire/Space jumper abilities and secrets yet to be discovered increases as the author cleverly reveals just enough leaving you knowing a lot more has yet to come to light. The clever characterisations throughout the book lead you to feel sympathy for all; even for those doing wrong as they show such human character traits. I would recommend this book to both young and old and can't wait until the third book is published.
