Product Description
Synopsis
A collection of affectionately witty accounts of some of Cash Peter's more ridiculous journeys as he makes his way, road weary and on a shoestring budget, across the United States in search of places most of us would never wish to visit. He understands that every attraction - however tacky, mediocre, or, in some cases, utterly tasteless and appalling it may seem to an outsider - is someone's golden vision and deserves to be ridiculed with equal respect. Each essay is a sharp lesson for anyone who, like Cash, gets suckered too easily into paying good money to see Kathy's Freak Farm in San Diego or the annual Clam Squirting Contest in Oregon. Written in his self-disparaging style, the volume reveals the endless frustrations - and the ludicrous dilemmas - that make up a journalist's life on the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars More of same, please., 4 Mar 2004
By Judith Bolton (Stockport, Cheshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is a very funny and entertaining book that sometimes made me giggle and sometimes made me laugh out loud. In many ways, the tourist attractions that Cash describes are incidental. It is his perceptive observations on ordinary people and daily life that I enjoyed the most. I especially liked his Top Ten Self-Evident Life Truths ('People who drink and smoke are more interesting than those who don't' etc.), the 'hallmarks' of bad artists and the witty asides he makes. I can't wait for the next installment!
