About the Author
L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) is author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and over a dozen other Oz series books. The Oscar-winning 1939 MGM movie musical starring Judy Garland made Baum's story of Dorothy's trip to the land of Oz a favourite around the world. Greg Hildebrandt is best known for his fantasy and comic book illustrations. He became famous in the late 1970s, for his depictions of Tolkien's characters in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Today, Hildebrandt concentrates on illustrating children's books.
