Synopsis
History of the Board Game: Mr. Pratt, a solicitor;s clerk before his retirement to Bournemouth, invented the classic "who dunnit" game Cluedo. Mr Pratt, who described himself as "an introvert full of ruminations, speculations and imaginative notions" came up with the idea for the murder game in 1944. The first game was played in the boardroom of Waddington's Managing Director, Norman Watson, together with the Pratts and Mr and Mrs Bull, who had already invented a successful game called BUCCANEER. Cluedo[registered] is today sold in over 40 countries worldwide and is known as Clue[registered] in the USA.
