Watercolour painting is frequently regarded as difficult or mysterious, and usually requiring of vast quantities of special equipment. The comprehensive "Encyclopedia of Watercolour Techniques" not only explodes all the common myths surrounding the subject, but demystefies the more complicated techniques by reducing each to a readily followed and logical sequence of procedures. Copious and appropriate full colour illustrations of finished works by established artists of renown as well as step by step examples of the foundation techniques are excellently supported by the concise text. The enthusiastic beginner will find inspiration as well as instruction, while the advanced painter will return again and again to dip into the wealth of suggestions and rich variety of interpretations of the medium, both modern as well as traditional. The section on Abstraction I found of particular and unusual value and for me alone made the book of unique worth.
