So why buy a strategy guide for a game that older than a well aged tequila? Fantastic replay value, that’s why. Dust off your Deus Ex CD and take on Bob Page and everything MJ12 can throw at you!

As expected from a quality guide, a well thought-out layout with hints and tips guarantee you won’t miss anything on your way to one of the three endings in the game. A novel part on character development encourages the player to try the game with other tactics. Players who have completed the game may want to go back and try a different set of skills and augmentations from their first play through. Ultra-stealthy or ultra-violent approaches can then be applied to the various missions.

Although the guide has plenty of photo maps, some are printed a little too small and detail is lost in the black & white prints. The easy to read text descriptions make up for their shortcomings and key elements are well itemised. There is also a section that explains the game’s twisting plot. However, certain walkthroughs are a bit heavy on firepower. Best to do as the tag line says and still question everything then…

Even with its minor faults, this is a must buy for anyone who has played Deus Ex and suits all players - although it would be a major spoiler to anyone really new to the game. With this in mind, it’s a good value purchase for those who are stuck or didn’t complete the game. Even for the players who did play it through to the end, it is definitely worth a look for revisiting past glories. Which is a good way to pass the time until the sequel, “Invisible War”, is released ;-)

This guide whilst not cheap due to the rarity of it is a good buy as it is fully descriptive of the game and its locations and does even have a truth behind the action special section where they try to tie up the story threads in to a cohesive single story in 7 pages.

I find that these game guides are great to have to reas after you have completed the game a number of times then use it to see what you may have missed not just as a cop out because the game is too hard. The game is supposed to challenge that why you bought it in the first place.

As a footnote there are a number of retexturing projects going on presently which will bring the game up to date and will be worth viewing.
