If you have not bought the Prima guide on how to play "The Sims", this book is worth the price. However, over 75% of this book is material I have read before in his guide for "The Sims".

The small section on "House Party" is full of good tips, but I would think twice before buying it if I knew what I do now.

I was having difficulty throwing good parties when playing the Sims, I once witnessed the "surprise guest" turn up at the house but was unable to recreate the success through not knowing which were the best objects and times for the party.

The House Party section in this book showed me exactly how to throw the perfect party, even down to a timeline of what to do and when to do it! I had never thought of buying half of the objects they had recommended, but after reading this guide was much more clued up about what to do.

The only drawback is that the first 132 pages out of 170 are identical to those in all the other strategy guides.

But if you can't be bothered playing the game for hours on end to find out how to throw a brilliant Sim party through trial and error I would definitely recommend this guide.

As mentioned in another review, the bulk of this book is dedicated to the original Sims game. This makes the majority of the book out of date and irrelevant if you have Livin' It Up or Sims Deluxe.

There are many new party objects in the game and this does give a good inventory of that you can buy and what they do, as well as how to plan the perfect party, but this is something you can work out quite easily through trial and error in the game. Disappointing.
