If you own a Palm OS device and you want to know how to program a computer buy this book!
I haven't done any programming for at least 10 years, and when I did we didn't have windows, and I used the basic language... so I feel like an absolute beginner again.
This book includes a CD with 30day trial versions of the software you need to be able to program your Palm in PocketC, so you can get started straight away. (It also includes other useful software.) The tone of the book is just right, not silly, but a nice light tone. The book is well set out and functions are clearly explained. I have worked through the first 2 chapters and I am pleased with how quickly I have learnt to make my Palm manipulate data. I hope that I am also learning good programming habits. I think I am, the author is a computer science lecturer.
I have tried previously to learn to program the desktop computer using Microsoft Press's learn Visual C++ guide, and very quickly got bogged down trying to understand what was happening, and reading dozens of pages of preamble. I now agree with what the author says in the introduction, that it is much easier to begin programming on a simple device (the Palm) and then use this as a step to learn to program in more complicated environments.
I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

This book is the best! I learned how to make games for my Palm, it also gives you a c-d whith demo codes so you can start your game programming fast and easy! If you dont know what code is for the palm and want to learn how to make games for the palm such as Hang man,fishing, card games,and even Nintendo game boy games than this book is for you! It also tell you where to get everthing you need to get started and like i seaid their is loads on the c-d that comes whith it!!! I VEARY much recomend you to get this book!

This book is not a good start for anyone who seriously wants to program for palm OS. I purchaced this book back in 2002 for a university project, and it was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. If you want to toy around with simple programming then fine buy this, it uses a very basic language. Otherwise I advise you to seriously look for a book that bases it's learning around CodeWarrior for PalmOS - this is what the big boys use.
