5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading, 18 Dec 2007
By Theo Z (Scotland) - See all my reviews
for anyone with an interest in British Motorcycles and in particular the Velocette.Whilst not having as comprensive a coverage of the M series- viper, venom and Thruxton models as some people who show an interest in these machines may like, the book does excel in showing that there was so much more to this factory/family by being a well balanced appraisal of a truly innovative manufacturer. The focus of this work is on the the engineering and technical achievements of a company who were world class leaders of their time, spurred on by racing and world record breaking success. In particular the sections on the supercharged twin roarer and model O show that there was so much more to velocette than Thruxton's, whilst the drawing and notes on the proposed in line 4 cylinder engine look suprisingly similar to the type of design that the Japanese manufacturers used to such great effect(and still do)many years later.
