5.0 out of 5 stars Le Tour: A Century of the Tour De France., 17 Jun 2003
By Simon J P Connellan (Talygarn, Rhondda Cynon Taff United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Having followed the Tour de France for the last 15 years, I still wonder over the excitement, colour, endurance, personality and character of the world's largest travelling sporting event. This book cover all the images of the last 100 years, from the very outset as an event to sell newspapers to what it has become today.

This book covers through its original black and white photography to colour images the characters, scenery and majesty of the event. I specifically enjoyed the black and white images of some the unbelievable characters, from the actual riding, to the behind the scenes, especially the one of the great Fausto Coppi refusing to leave his bed after abandoning the tour in 1951.

I feel this book is not only for ardent cyling fans, but for everyone, a stunning historical album of Le Tour, a book to leave on a coffee table, beautifully produced, to review and to enjoy, but most off all to show how crazy some of these guys are.

Worth every penny!
