4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable easy to read history, 22 Nov 2000
By scottfoster@totalise.co.uk (Derbyshire England) - See all my reviews
I found this title to be both enjoyable and informative, I am sure it will be referred to in the future. The text is straightforward and factual, and includes a good mix of technical details and historical data relating to these motorcycles as marketed in the USA. Starting with some detail of machines from which the Bonneville and TR6 were developed makes a good introduction, and many exellent colour photo's of restored and original machines blend well with black and white images of bikes 'in action' in the 60's. Interviews with 60's racers and dealers make an interesting interlude and serve to demonstrate the effect that these machines have had on people. It is unfortunate that more comparisons are not drawn between US and UK specifications although this did not spoil the book for me. The majority of the information is (as it should be) about pre 1970's bikes, details on later models is however interesting and informative - basically a good balance when compared with the actual historical development of these machines.
