Product Description

Product Description
This text is designed for a beginning programming course. It uses Visual Basic 6.0 to teach programming concepts, and has a two-pronged approach. First, this book teaches programming concepts using a task-driven, rather than a command-driven, approach. By working through the tutorials, which are each motivated by a realistic case, students learn how to use programming applications that they are likely to encounter in the workplace. Second, the content, organization, and pedagogy of this book exploits the Windows environment. The material presented in the tutorials seeks to capitalize on Visual Basic's power to perform complex programming tasks earlier and more easily than was possible under DOS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb introductory book on Visual Basic programming., 10 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Diane Zak has written a marvellous book which introduces a novice to various concepts of object-oriented programming. She takes you through the real-world business applications and does a wonderful job of explaining new concepts in an easy-to-understand language and style. She explains the concepts so well that you enjoy learning more and more. The exercises at the end of the chapter are very helpful to practice the concepts learned in the chapter. I strongly recommend doing these exercises to gain the hands-on experience which is so very important. No doubt, it takes some time but it's worth it. To sum it up, this is an extra-ordinary book for anyone new to Visual Basic programming. Hats off to Diane Zak. Hope she will come up with some more programming books of such a calibre in future.
