About the Author

John Galsworthy was born on August 14, 1867, in Surrey and came from an established, wealthy family. Called to the Bar in 1890, he soon decided to abandon law and turn to writing. THE FORSYTE SAGA is his most celebrated work, but he was also a successful dramatist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1932.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absorbing,enjoyable and satisfying, 5 Aug 2004
As there is no reference to the plot of this book, here is a brief overview.Claire Corven leaves her brutal husband Sir Gerald Corven and goes to live with her sister Dinny. While on the boat to escape she meets another man Tony Croom who falls in love with her.Her husband tracks her down and tries to make her go back with him. When she won`t,he hires a detective Mr Chayne to spy on Claire and Tony when they are out together so he can plan a divorce case. The are two stories to this book. One is Calires and if she will get a divorce and the other is her sister Dinnys and if she will marry a man called David Dornford. This book will suck you in at the first page as it starts with Caire on the boat with Tony Croom and keep you turning the pages untill the end.
Perhaps I was a tincy bit dissapointed by Claires story, but otherwise,I loved this book.
Enjoy
