Product Description

Product Description
Rio Ferdinand is widely acknowledged as one of the most talented defenders in the world. His transfer from West Ham to Leeds set a British record, a feat he repeated with his subsequent move to Manchester United. Ferdinand s success on the pitch has been meteoric including high drama in the Champions League, a World Cup (where, in 2002, he was the outstanding English player) and a dramatic Premiership victory. If success on the pitch has kept Ferdinand on the back pages, his off-pitch story has made him a regular on the front pages. Here for the very first time, Ferdinand reveals all about his infamous missed drugs test, the controversies surrounding both his transfers, his supposed reluctance to re-sign for United in 2005, the alleged tapping-up meeting with Chelsea s Peter Kenyon and various sex, driving and anti-social behaviour scandals. Beyond the football, Ferdinand s personal story will also fascinate. Here he discusses his upbringing in Peckham, his work with young offenders and his music label which provides unique opportunities for underprivileged youths.

About the Author
Born in Peckham, Ferdinand signed for West Ham as a schoolboy, turning professional at the age of 17. He debuted in May 1996 and played 158 games for the Hammers before transferring to Leeds United in November 2000, with whom he reached the Champions League semi-final in 2001. Following his star performance in the 2002 World Cup, he joined Manchester United. He made his England debut in March 1998 and has won 43 caps, scoring one vital goal in the 2002 World Cup.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Tosh!, 9 Oct 2006
By P. Mccowie "Capt Biggles" (Newcastle, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I tend to read most sports biographys when they are released. Why is it that footballers write the worst biographies, especially players that are still in the game? Why do they feel an urge to write about their "career" after only a few years? Why not wait until they have retired and have more interesting things to write about. Could it be to do with money!!!! This book is a typical example. Yes, Rio has done well for himself, yes he is a talented footballer, but there is nothing in this book that hasn't been said a hundred times or more in other biographies. Avoid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lost any sense of reality
It must be very difficult to retain a degree of reality when you are being paid in excess of £100k per month and Ferdinand fails miserably. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Devoid of any redeeming features
Badly written, uninteresting. His only interest is to make more money to add to his wad and buy more bling. Stick to what your good at, which is.....er..... Read more
