Cas Clarke has combined her two most successful student cookbooks - MORE GRUB ON LESS GRANT and VEGETARIAN GRUB ON A GRANT - into one jumbo volume which provides everything the aspiring student cook needs. Based on Cas's own experience as a student at Sussex University, it gives basic guidance on essential equipment, what to take for the store cupboard and how to cope with the vagaries of cooking in hall. The recipes are completely straightforward and assume no prior knowledge. They take into account the student's limited means and time but also cater for the odd occasion when they might want to splash out or entertain friends.


About the Author

Cas Clarke wrote her first book, GRUB ON A GRANT, after taking a degree in Urban Studies at Sussex University. She now lives in a rural retreat in Surrey with her husband Andy and children James and Helena.

This is a fairly simple but extremely useful book and very much a worthwhile addition to one's culinary bookshelf.

And at the price, it's a bargain - you can't go wrong really for four and a half quid.

This book has to be the best student cook book i have come across. It provides some handy hints from money saving techniques to tips on how to store your food . With simple easy to follow recipes to three course meal menus (just in case the parent ever visit...or you want to wine and dine someone!). There is a large variety of recipes including lots of vegetarian ones. It has an easy to use index and even has a leftovers guide, this give you the recipe you can use up your leftovers on. All in all it's a university essential!

At first I didn't think I would use this book much but after a while I found it to be a real help. The recipes are easy to use and they do help you keep to a budget while not eating the same beans on toast every night. Think that's about all that needs to be said, bon apetite.
