3.0 out of 5 stars Voyeurism and murder, 5 Aug 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dark Eye (Hardcover)
A photographer dies. Did he commit suicide or was he murdered? What is the connection to the Marxman shootings? This novel makes parallels between shooting with a camera and shooting with a gun. Photographs taken by a secretive snapper are sent to the subjects creating an atmosphere of fear. Perhaps we readers are just voyeurs too?

Ingrid Black's second novel featuring Saxon is another competant mystery. But the author (or maybe the narrator) is still holding out on us. Keeping secrets and refusing intimacy is Ingrid Black's, and Saxon's, style. I found this to be in equal parts frustrating and intriguing. Perhaps in the third book (if there is one) faithful readers will be rewarded with a few confidences.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Eye, 12 April 2009
Interesting plot and mystery, unfortunately the book is done in by the heroine Saxon. She lacks depth, character and interest and we are sadly stuck with her throughout the whole book as it is all told from her point of view. A disappointment after the enjoyable 'The Dead'. Hopefully Ingrid Black's next novel will be an improvement.
