5.0 out of 5 stars Ingrid Black - The Dead, 22 Aug 2004
If you like murder mysteries I would suggest you read this book. Ingrid Black is an author I will be following closely. It is gripping all the way through. Everyone I know who has read this book has recommended it to a friend. It is great to have some fresh talent in the crime books again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly formulaic but enjoyable and well written crime novel., 17 Nov 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dead (Paperback)
The heroine of this tale is Saxon, an ex-FBI agent and partner of Detective Chief Superintendant Grace Fitzgerald. Saxon has a unique insight into the case and her relationship with Grace allows her access to the clues and suspects. Don't expect any sex or romance, however, as there isn't time for that what with the corpses piling up. Not all aspects of the story are convincing and the suspects (and red herrings!) come thick and fast but it is nonetheless an enjoyable ride and of refreshingly modest length.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty decent murder mystery, 26 Oct 2008
By Sarah (Leicester) - See all my reviews
Having read this book i thought it was a pretty decent murder mystery.
I was a little confused in the beginning as it took me about 3 chapters to work out whether the main character was male or female! Having worked this out however, the story began to unfold nicely. I had absolutely no idea who the murderer was right up until Saxon approaches them at the end. The story was believable, without being predictable, and once I got about half-way through the book I couldn't put it down! I would recommend this if you like this kind of thing! Sarah.
