Review

‘There are plenty of twists, several impressive action set pieces and a narrative that speeds like the souped-up Taurus...that Cavanaugh likes to drive’ Publishers Weekly 21/4/03 (Publishers Weekly )

Product Description

Cavanaugh, a former member of Delta Force who now works as a protector for the rich, is hired by a brilliant scientist named Prescott who needs protection from a powerful drug lord seeking the highly addictive drug he has invented. At least, that is what Cavanaugh is led to believe. After Cavanaugh trains the scientist in escape and evasion, the unthinkable occurs: Cavanaugh’s team is viciously attacked and entirely wiped out - and Prescott seems to be in collusion with the attackers. Now Cavanaugh must fight against his own tactics and anticipate his enemy’s every move while suffering the consequences of the real secret Prescott is hiding: a unique weapon that induces fear.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fat free thriller, 26 April 2004
Any book that gets a recommendation from James Ellroy is worth a look inmy humble opinion and I'm delighted to say James and myself are incomplete agreement. True the story line isn't exactly original but whenit's told with such confidence and style you can overlook the sneakingsuspicion that you are not reading anything particularly new. I'll spareyou the details but basically it's the story of an agent of GlobalProtection Services (who are NOT bodyguards) who's charge turns out to bea lot more complicated than first thought. Each set piece is written sowell you won't want to put the book down until it's over and the spacebetween them is minimal so the whole book flies by! This would have to beone of the quickest reads I've had the pleasure of gorging myself on. Ican't wait to read the authors other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good I missed my stop on the underground!, 12 Sep 2005
By Mongymax (London) - See all my reviews
Buy this book. I don't do reviews, never have the time or inclination but this needs a word from me. Quite simply the most unstoppable, thumping, relentless book I have ever read. There is no chaff and no long descriptive witterings, just a series of ongoing action packed events which you can't put down. Morrell uses his inevitable trapped underground scene, but he does it so well you can taste the tension. I just prey they don't dilute it in movie form like First Blood, just in case they do read it first.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE most exciting book I have read! Ever!!, 29 Nov 2004
I would like to think that I am well read. My favorites are thrillers and psycological thrillers in general. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have nothing but praise for this exciting nailbiter of a book. I read it in two days. I was loathe to put it down!!!My nerves were frazzled most times and actually found myself holding my breathe(I won't give away why but those who have read the book know what i'm talking about). Do yourself a favour and read this book. It's a magnificent piece of writing.
