Synopsis
Brixton Murder and Robbery squad, situated in the metropolitan city of Johannesburg, was ranked one of the best forces in the world in combating crime. Nico du Preez was from the old school. He was their top Detective. He learnt to shoot first and ask questions later. However, times were changing. Nelson Mandela was the new president of South Africa much to the disbelief of the general white population. Laws were changed, there was democracy and equality. Nico did not like change but it seemed he had no choice. He had to fall in with the rest. It was a do or die situation. There was a psychopath killer serial rapist on the loose, his mission was to track the criminal down fast before more women were murdered and raped. Frustrated by government red tape, Nico took on the impossible task to hunt the mad man down. However, the city too had changed; there were no friends out there. He was a lone wolf.

I HAVE READ A LOT OF BOOKS ON MYSTERY AND SUSPENSE AND THIS ONE GOT TO ME!
i DISCOVERED AND LEARNT THAT THE YOUTH AND THE PARENTS OF SOUTH AFRICA NEED A WAKE UP CALL ON THE CRIME HAPPENING HERE RIGHT UNDER OUR NOSE.
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL AND MUST STATE ONCE AGAIN THIS BOOK WAS AN EYE OPENER TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY.

AFTER READING THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN.

WELL DONE MR NICHOLAS WEST !!!!

Exciting thriller that is definetly worth a read. I read the book on an overnight flight to South Africa, seeing that the book is set in South Africa and by a new SA auother. As a read it is not overly long and is an easy read (therefore excellent as a "travel" book), yet it has a good story line with two strong main characters. Found myself wanting to read on to see if Nico (the detective) would catch the killer or who the killers next victim would be. As it turns out there is a twist at the end but it also finishes with issues being unresolved as though there might be a sequel to the book. I can strongly recommend the book.

This book was a recommendation and I really enjoyed reading it. I felt that I was watching a film because the characters are so alive and interesting. It is captivating from start to finish, and I hope that Mr West will continue writing, because
he has a great talent as an author.
