Product Description

About the Author

Kitty Hart-Moxon was just twelve years old at the outbreak of the Second World War and fifteen when she and her mother were deported to Auschwitz. Amazingly she managed to survive the daily terror that she faced, and was eventually freed from the Salzwedel camp by American troops in 1945. Since then she has been dedicated to the setting up of holocaust exhibitions and is now a recognised authority on Auschwitz. This is her personal testimony of her time there and her subsequent return.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truely amazing book, 30 April 2003
Return to Auschwitz chronicles the life of Kitty Hart-Moxon and reflects on her time in the notorious death camp. It details her life before and after the holocaust. I have read and reread this book so many times, and it never ceases to amaze me how someone so young could survive when others who were much older sucumbed.

The parts were she returns and reflects are specially poignant. Kitty remembers and brings to life the horrors she suffered. A truly remarkable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that defys believe in humanty, A must read, 29 Sep 2001
By Jamie Bridson (Peterborough,Cambridgeshire) - See all my reviews
I remember reading this book some years ago, having loaned it from a library. I happened to stumble across it from amazon books and snapped it up. Kitty Hart-Moxon (God Bless her) was just 15 years old when she and her mother were sent to Auschwitz. In this book she gives an account of her struggle to survive both on the run from the Nazis after the outbreak of world war 2 and inside Auschwitz. Both she and her mother survived the horrific, degrading life of a camp inmate (and the regular selections for the gas chambers) and before being forced marched to Germany and eventually freed by allied troops. After reading such a harrowing eye-witness account i can only ask one question : How can we humans be low enough to commit such atrocious acts against one another? I want you (reading my Review) to buy this book and give me your views
Thankyou Kitty

5.0 out of 5 stars A journey through hell. Harrowing, but compulsive reading, 22 Feb 2002
By A Customer
This is one of the most brutal first hand accounts of history's darkest days. The sheer systematic process of the final solution is expertly told by the author who experienced the horrors first hand. It is a story of courage and survival in the face of true adversity. Some of the images described in the book are truly haunting as Kitty Hart Moxon and her mother live each day not knowing whether it will be their last. The book goes into great detail about the bartering system and black market that evolved in Auschwitz and how that became the focus for survival and sanity. The account of her time spent in an area called Kanada witnessing the pre-meditated destruction of human life is astonishing. The book left me feeling numb such was its impact. I would recommend this book to anyone. We should all remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best holocost account of them all
Kitty's story of how she and her mother survived the horrors of Auschwitz is the most heart-rending, but also inspirational book that anyone could ever come accross. Read more
