I have not ridden for a while and bought this book to remind me. I found it very clear with excellent instructions and great photos. A must for beginners and returners to riding as well as improving riding of the more experienced. A must for your book shelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read!!!, 10 Sep 2003
By Next Burghley Winner! (Lancashire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I was delighted with this book. Although it starts right from scratch, I didn't find this patronising at all, (in fact, it helps you out of bad habits!). It stresses the importance of a good seat, and a harmony with your horse, improving the skills of both horse and rider.

It informative, yet enjoyable, and the photography is great - it makes exercises so much easier to put into practice when you know what your aiming to achieve!

My only criticism is that the book towards the end focuses a little too much on competitions and shows. But perhaps that is just personal opinion. Overall, a great book, I'd highly recommened it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful!, 22 May 2002

This book will give you an insight into the basics of horse riding. It is also excellent as a reference to the terms used when you are going to lessons. In fact in came in very useful at my last lesson when I was learning to leg yield! at least I knew what I was trying to achieve! A very easy read book.
