5.0 out of 5 stars Good old fashioned pulp fiction, 13 Aug 2000

An entertaining fast moving storyline made this book an enjoyable read. It's like an updated Richard Allen/New English Library style book for the new millenium, and I would recommend it.

The one fault as mentioned in the Arsenal fan's readers comment is, that it's a bit short, but hopefully the author will write a follow up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, realistic and a good laugh., 29 Nov 1999
By A Customer
Going Away is a story based on the exploits of seven football hooligans over a short space of time. I found it easy to warm to the characters even though they often displayed a violent side to their nature. The scenes that were played out in the book were realastic and filled with humour. Even if you have never known a soccer thug I am sure that you would have met or heard of the kind of incidents that happen in the book. It really is a good read and don't be put of by the size for although the book is short in pages it is crammed with funny storylines that make it easy to get through. I'd say it's a must to read and as for myself I hope that there is a sequel as I am sure Sparrow and Co could develop a cult following.
