This installment in Donald Bain's series is set in New Orleans, a location used for several episodes of the Murder, She Wrote television series. Bain successfully captures the colourful atmosphere of New Orleans, and the novel includes some interesting facts about the voodoo and jazz which are so important in the city's culture.
Staying in New Orleans as part of a promotional tour for her latest novel, mystery writer Jessica Fletcher is pleased at the opportunity to catch up with her friend Wayne Copley, who has offered to give her a whirlwind tour of the world of jazz.
Sadly, music critic Wayne is found dead, in the cemetery where an old voodoo queen is buried. The police insist that the death is accidental, but Jessica is not so sure.
A good plot, thorough research and believable characters make this one of the best Donald Bain novels so far.

This is one of Donald Bains best's, The back drop is New Orleans which as always is filled with mystecism and magic, Jessica as always is tangled up in a murder, this time of a close friend, and helps an unoficial police investigation of his death

It has all the depth I have come to expect from his books and the series itself!

Personally I loved it! and is definatly one to buy

Yet again Donald Bain delivers a classic Murder She Wrote page turner which once started is almost impossible to put down, the key to these book lies in Donald Bain's ability to describe people and places so vividly you feel that you are there, this attention to every little detail of sight sound and smell is what sets this series of books miles above any other of its kind, to see this you just need to look at the wonderful picture that Mr Bain paints of the ageing Voodoo Priestess at the Jazz festival whose bony finger hovers above various Gris-Gris (Voodoo lucky charms) such as "Enemy be Gone" before reaching under her table for a more powerful Ju-Ju to protect Jessica from the evil and dangerous spirit that surrounds her.
This is compelling writing from the first page to the last, not to be missed.
