Book Description

The year is 1199, and on the borders of England and Wales young Arthur de Caldicot waits impatiently to grow up and become a knight. One day his father's friend Merlin gives Arthur a shining black stone, and he starts to see stories of his namesake, King Arthur. As the stories of the two Arthur's intertwine, the narrative builds to a thrilling and mysterious climax.

4.0 out of 5 stars The first book in a fabulous new trilogy!, 28 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This book kept me reading for soooooooooo long. I really couldn't put it down. Another excellent point is it has 100 chapters, some are only a page long, but it really keeps all the events in the book organised, and you don't need to stop reading halfway through chapters. Arthur, a 13 year old boy living in the 12th through to 13th century, is writing a sort of journal about his life. Arthur wants to become a knight like his father, but he isn't sure what his destiny is. This novel by Kevin Crossley Holland certainly quenches my thirst for a good read, using fantasy and perhaps magic......
