About the Author

One of the world's best selling authors, Erle Stanley Gardner was the master of American mystery fiction. Trained as a civil rights lawyer Gardner's books feature intricate, ever twisting plots in the best tradition of whodunits. More than half of his books feature Perry Mason, the fictional attorney who was the star of a hugely popular TV series, starring Raymond Burr. Gardner himself featured in the final episode of the series, playing the part of the courtroom judge. At the height of his popularity Gardner was selling an average of 26,000 of his novels every day. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Gardner's cleverest, 15 Feb 2001
By A Customer
It's not unusual to find Perry Mason right in the thick of it, but this early mystery features some of his cleverest tactics, notably a brilliant manipulation of ballistics evidence. Perry's cunning and sheer gall will leave you in awe.
