4.0 out of 5 stars Will sees dead people, 2 Oct 2005
'Firecracker' is the sad, funny and ultimately redemptive tale of Will 'Dead' Kennedy. Will is able to perceive those sad souls who have been unable to find peace in the afterlife. The novel explores the ways in which this has affected his life and that of his loved ones. Will is struggling, as are so many of us, to come to terms with the nature of his existence and his relationships. I enjoyed this book very much and found Will a sympathetic and perceptive character. If anything I thought the novel a little short and would have enjoyed a deeper exploration of the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read it in a day, 10 Jul 2006
By Da (London U.K) - See all my reviews
It sat on my bookshelf for a couple of months (the woes of 3 for the price of 2 offers!) but yesterday morning I picked it up and didn't put it down until it was done - a superb read, you could feel the dirt and grime and you could see what he saw, really well written. Black humour, with real torment. How does anyone ever get over their first love and move on? What do you do when you wake up and realise that you haven't made it and your 32 years old already! I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow burning classic, 1 Dec 2005
By K. P. Mcveigh "kevmcuk" (Lancashire, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
NOTE: Firecracker was originally published as 'Perfect Circle' in the US.

Its a ghost story, a road trip, a cool tale of a contemporary guy with the ability to see ghosts and great taste in music. His life is a mess (of course) and he has a vindictive ghost on his tail. But that's not what its about. Its about life, love, big issues, and how our mind sets structures up to deal with them.

A great, unknown novel.
