Product Description

Product Description

Bruce is a journalist who has waited seven years for his 'big' story, while watching his personal life fall apart. His chance suddenly comes when he spots Emma Fine, a movie star who supposedly disappeared ten years ago, after a murder enquiry in which her lover was found floating face down in her swimming pool. The man's wife also disappeared in suspicious circumstances around the same time, and she was almost a double for Emma. The novel brings to life the glamour, drugs, sex and sleaze of the Hollywood lifestyle within a tightly controlled plot full of suspense and drama.

5.0 out of 5 stars Facinating, detailed and well thought out!, 5 Nov 2005
By A Customer
A fantastic book with loads of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Amazingly written, a great book for all, even those (like me) who aren't really murder mystery fans. Post Modernistically written, reminded me very much of Quentin Tarrentino's film work! Fascinating - you should definately read this!

3.0 out of 5 stars Does it really matter?, 18 Jul 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Blur (Paperback)
A second-rate journalist researches a ten-year-old unsolved murder. At the same time, he hopes that his marriage, which broke up at roughly the same time, will restore itself.

The story didn't manage to ratchet up any tension. Will he keep his job? Yeah, sure, his editor's happy to play ball despite yet another late submission. Will he get sued or beaten up? Nope, everyone's well-behaved and pretty nice to each other. Will his wife come back? And does he make much of an attempt to regain her? Maybe, no, probably not. Will we ever find out whodunnit and where everyone is these days? Not saying - but you're not missing much.

As for the ending, in a book I thought it was a bit of a cop-out disguising itself as an arty twist. Like the rest of the novel, it was a bit too close to real life. Let it go, move on.
