The new series of "You Are What You Eat"[trademark] will look at not just what we eat, but how we eat. The social and psychological reasons for unhealthy eating will be examined in the series and highlight individual eating patterns. Containing a variety of delicious recipes, this book will give you a general plan for eating throughout the year, with the emphasis on a sustained, healthy diet. Balancing staple foods that are delicious whatever the time of year with the best foods that are 'in season' and taking into account the fact that people's tastes change as the seasons do, ie we all tend to eat less in summer and comfort eat in winter; "You Are What You Eat[trademark]: The Meal Planner" will help you make good food choices all year round and for the rest of your life. The result will be increased energy levels, improved mood, better skin, nails and hair and gradual, healthy weight loss for those aiming to reach their normal body weight.

4.0 out of 5 stars A True Education In Eating Healthily, 31 Jan 2006
By Ms. K. Mcsherry "k4thy" (Glasgow) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Outstanding Book. The perfect tool for the average person who's never ventured into a health foof store and thinks that nuts are simply for eating at parties when all the good food has gone. Undoubtedly an education, written for the average Joe who is committed to changing a life-time of bad eating practices. It does take perserverence and a willingness to learn and cook differently using this book. Its not for the quick flick through approach to learning about new healthier foods and cooking. But once you master the new ingredients and start to cook, the taste, variety and health benefits are undeniable. Every kitchen should have this book in it. Excellent

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple progression to a healthier eating plan, 1 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I have read many books on healthy eating plans and the one thing that stops me from succeeding is that I try to change too quickly doing too many new things. This book is arranged in a month by month guide starting in January with a look at how to improve after the Christmas excesses. It tackles a different subject each month, going through the year so that if you take on the concept each month, by the end of the year you will be surprised at how your diet has changed, almost without you knowing.

It is not the definitive guide but a good gentle start to a better way of eating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life isn't all mitso soup and quinoa, 3 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Not being particularly attracted to slippery elm and dandelion tea as advocated by Gillian McKeith I found this book used foods that I and my family are more likely to eat on a sustained basis. Gillian's hard and fast rules are great for jolting the system when one is feeling motivated but there are some things that I will never get a taste for. Using this book in conjunction with the other You Are What You Eat publications provides an extensive range of recipes using food items that are, in the main, available in the local Spar. The energy bars are really delicious and easy and straightforward to make. There are also lots of good ideas for family meals together with puddings and treats when you just need something a little bit sinful.
