4.0 out of 5 stars Must have for all serious babylon 5 fans, 16 May 2001
By A Customer
I bought volume 1 in September 97, I had bought a few books that were billed as guides to Babylon 5 but had found they were dull, unhelpful and obviously not written by a true enthusiast. The Babylon file however was incredible, not only did it add to the impact of each episode but helped the flow of the story arc. It was well written and you could tell Lane was a true fan. The only problem was it was incomplete, as of course in 97 the fourth series had yet to be fully broadcast and the fifth was just a glint in J Michael Straczynski's eye.

I awaited the updated version for three years asking my local bookshop every month or so if it was on their database yet. Then in 2000 while visiting a friend in Liverpool I saw a single copy of volume 2 in a pretty cheesy sci-fi shop id been dragged into by my friend. I was amazed and saddened because I knew full well I did not have enough money with me to pay for it due to quite a good night out the night before. So I went home and rushed straight to my local shop to order a copy, " i'm sorry we no longer order from that company" the assistant said. So I returned home pretty disappointed then it hit me why not try Amazon.

It arrived 2 days later and I was not disappointed it was a great aid to the show and had some interesting interviews about Claudia Christian's disappearance in between season 4 and season 5. It was clear that he had lost a bit of enthusiasm, which he actually admitted and blamed on the fact that Straczynski's writing in season 5 had not been as good as the other 4 seasons in my opinion. This is a must have for any serious fan, it is so essential i'm still waiting to see if a definitive volume is made encompassing both volumes and giving more on the spin offs and TV films.
