Product Description

A sequel to "City Girl", which brings the reader up-to-date with Devlin, Caroline and Maggie, the men in their lives, and their triumphs and disasters. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

From the Back Cover

Devlin's flair and ambition ensure continued success for her City Girl health and leisure complex. Expansion is next on her agenda, But what of Luke Reilly, a man used to getting his own way? His interest is more than professional. Why does she keep running away from it? Soon Devlin is forced to make a decision that will have a huge impact on her life.

Caroline, still coming to terms with her husband's revelations, has to do some serious thinking. For the first time in her life she is forced to face the consequences of her neediness. Can she face the future on her own or will she resort to the crutches of drugs and drink that have always carried her through?

Maggie, torn between motherhood and career, finds her marriage under threat. Her husband's total lack of support enrages and frustrates her. When dishy Adam Dunne makes it more than obvious that he wants Maggie, she wonders why she should be loyal to a husband who has never been faithful to her. After years of putting other people's needs before her own, Maggie has to decide if it's time to put herself first.

Patricia Scanlan's sparkling, absorbing, warm-hearted sequel to City Girl is an engrossing story of contemporary women. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read, 11 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: City Woman (Paperback)
Although I hadn't read City Girl - I didn't realise that this book was a sequel until I'd finished it!!! - I still found the book easy to follow and very enjoyable. The writer has obviously included enough "history" in this book to enable someone to be able to follow the plot and understand why the characters are behaving in a particular manner, therefore I'd recommend this book to anyone, regardless of whether they have read City Girl, because if I can follow it, anyone can!!! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll laugh and cry - The new Maeve Binchy?, 9 Mar 2000
This review is from: City Woman (Paperback)
I was attracted to this book by the title - I thought it would be something to do with women working in financial services in the City of London! (Read Suddenly Single by Sheila O'Flanaghan for a story like that). But I enjoyed it very much all the same and the style reminded me very much of Maeve Binchy.

It made me laugh - the bit at the end with the small kids and the talcum powder is hysterical. It also made me cry when Devlin is torturing herself over the death of her baby.

Read City Girl first would be my recommendation, I didn't and I think it would now be spoiled for me. Buy both at the same time because you'll want to read on.
