Product Description

Product Description

Moving Forward is for anyone wanting to move forward and change their life, no matter what their past may have held. Dave Pelzer, author of the internationally bestselling memoirs A Child Called It, The Lost Boy and A Man Called Dave, teaches readers how to harness the strength of surviving past negative experiences and use that empowerment to live their lives according to their own values. Drawing on personal history as well as his experience helping others through his work speaking to private, public and military groups, his crisis hotline and his personal connections, Dave blends his gift for memoir-style storytelling with solid, actionable advice. Moving Forward is a book designed to show people how to lift themselves up, written by a man who has personally walked the path from horrific trauma, through healing, to a successful life. Now he is in a position to show others the way with his trademark wisdom, support and tough love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational and encouraging, 24 May 2009
By Lenora (Scotland, UK) - See all my reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it packed with good advice, examples, and questions that made me think. He doesn't give step-by-step instructions because life and personal development don't work like that - you have to try different things, do more exploring and figure things out for yourself; following someone's else's steps exactly isn't going to work. What Dave does is provide an invaluable starting point for you to build the life you want according to your own values and dreams; he encourages readers to follow their dreams and pursue their goals, and he gives good advice and examples about problems you might encounter along the way. I recommend this book to anyone looking for some inspiration or encouragement. It's one of the best books I own and will no doubt be re-read numerous times.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very uninformative..., 15 Nov 2008

I dont doubt the sincerity of the author but as someone who was looking for some new methodology to change my life this didnt cut it. Whilst the author outlines what you need to do to change your life, he doesnt actually tell you HOW to achieve this with any degree of leverage. For that reason, what is the point of parting company with a sum of money to be no further forward with the process of moving forward in life ??
