What the deuce?, 30 Nov 2005
By A Customer
I was really looking forward to reading this book (you can tell where this is going...) but when I flipped through the book which everyone does when receiving a new book, the amount of wasted space and double-lined paragraphs shocked me, and probably more importantly there was a lack of images, design and exciting layout. However, the actual content of the book is reasonable, but like the show, some of the jokes are purely directed at the American audience. Moreover, you get the strong feeling that it isn't really written by the guys at Family Guy, but instead feel its someone else trying to impersonate Stewie with sometimes lame and lacklustre writing. Compared to Bart Simpson's "Guide to Life", which is far more interesting to look at and much more entertaining, this really does create the sense its an actual guide to World Domination. You do get occational quotes from several Family Guy members, which are quite funny, and every 5 mins you might stumble across something funny. For those interested, here are some of the Chapters; Family, Love and the Sexes, Young people today, Parenting, School, Work, TV, Inventions. In total there are 10 chapters. Unlike the hilarious hit-show, and movie on DVD, this book fails to be a true-classic. Still, worth a read for the die-hards/people with spare time on there hands.
