GOOD BOOK GUIDE

'Plane crashes, car chases, crocodile-infested swamps: this book has it all. A ripping yarn with a conscience. It's great stuff!' --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Review

'It's one terrifying ordeal after another for the poor girl, right up to the end of this racy and enjoyable read.' (Susanna Yager SUNDAY TELEGRAPH )

'I know you don't read Australian thrillers. Well, bury that prejudice. This is probably the most consistently exciting thriller I've read this year - and by 'consistently' I mean start-to-finish, chapter-by-chapter, don't let-up thrills and excitement... I loved every minute of it.' (Russell James CRIME TIME )

'Plane crashes, car chases, crocodile-infested swamps: this book has it all. A ripping yarn with a conscience. It's great stuff!' (GOOD BOOK GUIDE )

'Quite the adventuress herself, Caroline Carver writes novels with non-stop action. Poor Georgia! The troubles Caroline invents for her you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy... the action scenes are great. Enjoy. *** 1/2' (George Easter DEADLY PLEASURES )

'The local colour is strong: landscapes, habitations, sweaty heat , scorching winds, poisonous wildlife vivdly described. The crocodiles are terrifying... Anyone who likes reading breakneck, this is the book for you.' (SHERLOCK )

'Caroline Carver is a British writer who has already wowed us with her dazzling debut Blood Junction. Now she has followed it with the equally tense page-turner Dead Heat ... Fast-paced and slick, Dead Heat should firmly establish Caroline Carver as a thriller queen. If you want a read to consume you, this is the one to pick, but don't be surprised if you have no nails left by the final pages. *****' (PETERBOROUGH EVENING TELEGRAPH )

'Carver's action runs at an excellent pace and she creates a dense atmospheric setting amongst the mangrove groves... Dead Heat makes for tense reading.' (CITY LIFE (EVERYTHING MANCHESTER) )

'The best book I have read this year. Atmospheric, gripping, thrilling, compelling. Read it.' (Lizzie Hayes MYSTERY WOMEN )

'[A] gripping thriller' (DORSET ECHO ) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic page turner, 25 Nov 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead Heat (Paperback)
A fantastic book. A real page turner. The only time you'll want to put it down is to catch your breath or, if you read on the toilet, to get the feeling back in your legs. The action is superbly paced and terrifyingly real. You'll never fly standby again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb :o), 19 Jul 2004

This review is from: Dead Heat (Paperback)
I bought this book as I was going on holiday and it was in one of the "recommendations" Amazon made. I read the synopsis and thought it sounded ok so went ahead and ordered it.

I started this book on the plane and could not put it down, I was totally gripped. It made a nice change that it was set in Oz rather than America or the UK which is where most of the books I seem to read are set. I enjoyed it so much that when I got home, I immediately ordered both her other books, have just finished the first one and am about to start on the next!
