5.0 out of 5 stars India Kane is back, 31 Jul 2004

This review is from: Black Tide (Paperback)
Caroline Carver is a sensational storyteller. This third Australian thriller is even more breath-taking than "Blood Junction" or "Dead Heat" - & I was knocked out by both of THEM! In this astonishing book, the Greenpeace ship India had joined, is run down by a vast container rustbucket in Antarctic seas where it had no business. The mystery of the sinister collision & to avenge the death of friends, India's pursuit of the culprits is relentless. Her physical courage is obvious but low key, she escapes danger & death using ingenuity & lateral thinking as well. India is obviously fit & quite fearless, but I was unable to put the book down, so I sat up all night to see she was all right. What a disturbing plot & what an exciting ride though? Caroline Carver's subtle narrative style encourages us to believe that if we had India's confidence, we too could vanquish the villains this way. The background is parochial Australia - the weather, the food, the attitude & the enormous distances. It is a long way from Europe & the USA & absolutely fascinating as a result.
