Product Description

Product Description
After the collapse of their economy, fanatic Japanese nationalists take matters into their own hands and, with the approval of the Prime Minister, launch an attack on Russia. Bound by secret protocol to come to Russia's aid in the event of war, the US government sends Air Force Colonel Bob Cassidy and a squadron of F-22s to thwart the Japanese in the skies over Siberia. The operation brings Cassidy one on one with Captain Jiro Kimura, flying Japan's most secret weapon. Japan's goal is world domination, the price a third world war. All that stands between Kimura and the completion of his mission is Cassidy, a man he once counted his best friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting thriller, 17 Jun 2008

This review is from: Fortunes Of War (Hardcover)
Coonts has proved only too well that he is a fearsome rival of Clancy and Brown in the military fiction genre. Using a viable plot and considering strategy before sensation, this interesting and exciting novel creates suspense and even fear in the reader. Recommended.

Fast paced, engaging, I could not put this one down. Anyone with an interest in military aviation, how it feels to fly or just a love of fast paced action books will be thrilled by Fortunes of War.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coonts delivers yet again an easy to read and exciting story, 12 Dec 1999
If you want to know what it is like to fly the F22 Raptor this book is for you. Coonts bases the story, as always on possible events. The flying sections are superb. No Jake Grafton this time but some good new characters.
