After graduating, I decided to find a job in the City. I was highly motivated to learn as much as possible and as soon as possible about the basics of financial services: what are the different types of shares, the different types of bonds, how to read the FT, etc. I was disappointed by all the books I could find because they were too obscure, too difficult to read, too detailed, too high-level, and the basics were lacking. I needed a book that for beginners. By chance, I found this book in a bookstore. It is easy to read and a good laugh. Moreover, you can read it within a few hours. I have never learnt something so useful in such little time. The best investment I have never made! During one interview, they actually asked about what the different types of bonds/shares were, which ones were more riskier. And my interviewerse were very impressed by all I knew and how well I could present the various products. During another interview, I was asked about derivatives, which are well-known to be very obscure. They are also dealt with in the book, in a very funny but informative way. I had spent weeks reading articles in the FT about derivatives and others, and this book just opened my eyes. It saved me! It has become my bible. I just wish the authors could write a second book, this time not for beginners, but say intermediate persons!
By the way, I was offered my ideal job in the City and start in 2 weeks' time! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
