Product Description

Product Description
Three women, each despairing in their own way, discover an organisation which appears to offer them hope. At first they are amused and intrigued by the ways of the group; they relax and are lulled into a false sense of well-being. But the meditation and encounter groups become more sinister, and as the novel builds to a gripping climax, we see that dramatic change is inevitable for each of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great read and very fast !, 11 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cult (Paperback)
This is the 2nd Anita Burgh book I bought. Although a little confused in the begining due to the many characters, I found it very interesting, as I have never even considered joining a "Cult" -although I can say that I do identify with the main characters(lonely women with lives falling apart.....). I must admit it made more sense in reading the whole story first and then going back to read the cult leader's diary pages, but still a great read to get to know the story all the ways round. Still can't bring myself to beleive that such stories could be based on true life (it's only a novel) but then again they very well could!

3.0 out of 5 stars Boring first, great later, 29 Jun 2005
By A Customer
It was the first book, I've ever read from Anita Burgh and I didn't know what to expect. In the beginning, I've then been really disappointed. The book took a long time to get going, it was a bit boring and confusing. Many different people with different stories and I didn't know, how to fit them together. But later - just before I gave up and put the book out of reach - it became really good. Adventure and excitement. You didn't know what would happen on the next page. In overall, I enjoyed the book, but it's a shame it takes so long to get to the better half!
