Product Description
Synopsis
After 112 years as a non-league club, Cheltenham Town emerged from obscurity into English football's third tier, competing against the likes of double European Champions Nottingham Forest, 2004 FA Cup finalists Millwall and four-time top flight title winners Huddersfield Town. This book looks at the most talented players, endearing characters and loyal servants to represent the club since its formation in 1887. From local boy Tim Ward, who progressed to play for England, to current Northern Ireland international Grant McCann, fifty of the greatest players to grace the Whaddon Road turf are detailed. The careers of members of the Steve Cotterill-built teams that won three promotions and the FA Trophy, such as Chris Banks, Neil Grayson and Michael Duff are recounted, along with those of record goalscorer Dave Lewis, long-serving Roger Thorndale and home-grown favourite Mark Buckland. Written by the Gloucestershire Echo's football writer Jon Palmer in conjunction with former programme editor Tom Goold, this book will evoke memories of the defining moments in Cheltenham Town's long history.

(REAL NAME)
An informative yet entertaining read for all football fans not just supporters of this friendly Cotswold club. Remember the unsung heroes which took The Robins to league football, relive the triumphant Wembley and Millennium Stadium appearances and gasp in astonishment at how this plucky club have gone from strength to strength.
