5.0 out of 5 stars After the dockyard, 4 Feb 2006
By A Customer
An exceptionally good book on the Portsmouth area and its relationship to the navy. A little uneven at points, but no simplistic wallow in local nostalgia, in spite of some excellent photographic material which supports clear discussion of the dockyard and the city and simple elegant presentation. The best thing I've found so far. If you've "done" the "historic dockyard" but actually want an introduction to the real history of the place, try this.
